i get your point but dont think you have really thought it through. Earth Day is an icon for a society that is still in the throws of becoming aware of its impact upon the planet and all species. This is the long game that just learned that it is really a short game. If we remove the icon we will have to start over again. True, there is no assurance that keeping Earth Day in the lexicon will, in fact, cause us to try to address the problem. Howerver If we do eliminate the term then we have even less chance to pull this miracle off. This world, our society are in a shift that is unprecedented in our history and the only solution path requires that global society honors and responds to the issues that Earth Day connotes. We need 'earth day' to help keep this crisis in the forefront while we wrestle with getting our collective act together. Thin globally begin to develop the infrastructure to act locally.
