Nothin' but BlueSky
...from now on. A fresh start.
Dear friends,
A quick note to say that I’ve done the deed and joined the BlueSky wave. Now, some of you may be groaning to yourselves (Oh, boy, here we go again… This can’t end well), but the almost four years since I quit Twitter (pre-Musk) have been a long, sometimes dark and painful, road to a healthier place.
Social media is a fact of public life, and as a journalist, author, and activist I can’t pretend otherwise. If I’m going to engage at this moment of crisis, I need to stake out at least some small social-media presence. Enter Bluesky, its reputation as a positive alternative, and its explosive growth among progressive media and movements since the election. If this isn’t the time to step back in, however gingerly, then when will it ever be? The ferment I’ve seen so far on Bluesky is inspiring.
So I want to share this short thread, as a way of committing to a fresh start:
If you’re on Bluesky and feel like taking a chance on following me there, that’s great. If not, that’s totally fine. And if you’re someone who feels like holding me to my vow, that’s good. You’re my friend.
